Rockford Promise Program at NIU opens for RVC transfers in fall 2025

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Rock Valley College announces its partnership with Rockford Promise and Northern Illinois University.

The Rockford Promise Program at NIU opens in fall 2025 for qualifying RVC transfers, offering students a tuition-free transfer.

Students must be Rockford Promise scholars at RVC who earned their associate’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and must enroll at NIU as full-time students.

“We have been the strongest educational institutions in the community for decades. And so, they want to make sure that the staples in the community are the ones that have been proven to support the students time and time again,” says Dr. Howard Spearman, RVC President.

Students in the program can transfer into any bachelor’s degree program at NIU. Qualified students must complete an NIU application and submit their FAFSA by the correct deadlines.
